Quick answer
Is the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger worth it?
The bottom line
Outdoor trips on bicycle tires once your baby reaches 6 months
You can lock the front wheel for runs. The seat is for babies 6 months and up. From birth, you can click in a Baby Trend EZ-Lift or Secure car seat (sold separately) for walks only. The basket holds just 5 lb, so pack light.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Who it's for
- Great if you want to start jogging with your baby without spending much.
- Handy if you use a Baby Trend infant car seat, since several click right in.
Who should skip it
- Not for a baby under 6 months in the seat. Before then, it's walks only with a Baby Trend EZ-Lift or Secure car seat (sold separately).
- Skip it if you need room for shopping bags. The basket is small.
The numbers that matter
You'll lift this weight into the trunk after your walk.
Your child can ride when they need a break from walking.
Room for a diaper bag, not much more.
These infant seats click in for walks from the car.
Let the front wheel match the plan
The Expedition has bicycle tires for all-terrain trips. The front wheel swivels for turns on a walk and locks for running.
Jogging starts when your baby is at least 6 months old. For a younger baby, you'll need another plan. A seat that reclines isn't a shortcut to an earlier run.
The basket is for a small bag
The basket holds 5 lb. That's the catch if you like to take half the house along. Wipes, spare clothes and bottles all share that limit. The big wheels don't come with a big load of shopping space.
For a park trip, think about the bag you reach for most. If it's already full, a stop for groceries adds more to carry. This is a better fit for a light pack than a long shopping list.
When the walk turns sleepy
The seat has several recline positions. You can change the angle when your child gets tired of watching everything go by. There's still somewhere to rest when the walk home feels longer than the walk out.
Each rear wheel has a foot brake lever. The levers lift to release. At the park, you'll be reaching for those while your child asks for a drink and the drink hides at the bottom of the bag.
Big wheels still have to come home
The trigger fold closes the stroller for the drive home. It weighs 24 lb, and that lift comes after the walk or run. If you drive to every path, you'll be doing it a lot. Think of the trunk on a normal day, with your other stuff still in it.
Four Baby Trend infant seats click straight in without an adapter. That direct fit is for the car-to-stroller part of a walk. It doesn't change the age for jogging.
Some other infant car seats can rest on the front child tray. Check the Baby Trend manual for yours before you try it.
The stroller seat's limits are 50 lb and 42 in. Either one can end your child's time in the seat. Until then, there's a ride for the kid who loves the park but has no plans to walk back.
