Short answer

For running, use the minimum age and setup rules for your exact jogging stroller and discuss your baby’s readiness with your pediatrician. The BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 and Alterrain Pro have an 8-month minimum for jogging or off-road use; the Baby Trend Expedition recommends at least 6 months for jogging.

Running can start later than walking

For a BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 or Alterrain Pro, the minimum is 8 months for jogging or off-road use. The Baby Trend Expedition recommends at least 6 months for jogging. Use the rule for your own model and ask your pediatrician about your baby's readiness before the first run.

A walking start date is a different rule. The Revolution Flex 3.0 allows the seat from 8 weeks for walking only. Its from-birth infant car seat setup is also walking only. None of those earlier options moves the jogging age forward.

What can you use while you wait?

If you want one stroller from the early months onward, compare the walking setup first. The Revolution Flex 3.0 can use an infant car seat from birth for walks. You still need the approved pairing and any required adapter for your exact seat.

The Alterrain Pro seat also starts at 8 weeks for walking only. That gives you a clear split between a gentle outing and the later running stage. Stroller seat ages covers other seat and newborn setups.

Look at jogging strollers with the early months in mind as well as the run you hope to take later. Choose a frame you can get outside easily while you wait.

Test the size before the first running season

The Revolution Flex 3.0 weighs 28.5 lb. The Alterrain Pro weighs 32.3 lb and adds a handbrake as well as its foot parking brake. The 3.8 lb difference matters if you load the stroller into a car to reach your route.

The Expedition weighs 24 lb and has a 5 lb basket limit, compared with 10 lb on both BOB models. Think about the water, changing gear and layers you bring. Put the full load in the basket within its limit rather than judging the frame empty.

What I'd do before the first run

I'd wait until my child met the model's running rules. I'd also talk with the pediatrician before that first run. Then I'd learn the controls, including the front wheel setting, using the steps for that exact stroller.

Use a five-point harness whenever your child rides. (AAP) Start with a route that lets you turn home easily, so the first outing does not depend on finishing a loop. Jogging versus regular strollers helps if you are still deciding whether a jogger will earn its space.

Questions parents ask

Can I walk with the jogger before running age?

Some models allow that. The Revolution Flex 3.0 seat starts at 8 weeks for walking only, and from-birth car seat use is walking only too.

Is 6 months the rule for every jogger?

No. The Expedition recommends at least 6 months for jogging, while the two BOB models discussed here require 8 months.
