Short answer
The start age depends on the seat: the Minu V3 has a from-birth seat, the Vista V3 toddler seat starts at 3 months, and the Aer+ seat starts at 6 months. Use the exact seat and newborn-part rules for your stroller rather than one age for all models.
There is no single start age for every seat
Some stroller seats can be used from birth, while others start at 3 or 6 months. The UPPAbaby Minu V3 has a flat recline for from-birth use. The Vista V3 toddler seat alone starts at 3 months, and the Joolz Aer+ seat starts at 6 months.
Start with the seat you own, rather than the age a friend moved their baby. Read the rules for that exact setup. If you have concerns about how your baby sits in it, ask your pediatrician before making the change.
From birth may mean adding a different part
The Vista V3 needs the Infant SnugSeat or Bassinet for from-birth use. The Aer+ needs its separate cot. That means a stroller can serve your baby from day one while the main seat shown in the shop is still for a later stage.
The Cruz V3 is different: its lay-flat seat is for use from birth. The Minu V3 also has a from-birth seat and a 40 in maximum child height. Include the height and weight limits as your child grows, rather than keeping only the earliest age in mind.
For shopping, put the first usable setup into the cost comparison. Count the cot into your budget and storage plan. Strollers and travel systems explains another way to cover those early car trips.
Upright seats are for babies who can sit up on their own. Until then, use a flat bassinet or a rear-facing infant car seat.
A parent's useful feature is still model-specific
One parent with an earlier Graco Modes liked changing from bassinet mode to an upright stroller seat. They found that transition useful during the baby stage. The report is about an older Modes, rather than the current Pramette, so use your own model's directions for that change. (What to Expect)
Walking and jogging follow different timelines
The BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 seat starts at 8 weeks for walking only. Jogging and off-road use have an 8-month minimum. From-birth use with an infant car seat is also for walking only.
When a baby can ride in a jogger covers that split. A seat being usable on a walk does not turn it into a running setup, even if your baby looks settled in it.
What I'd check when moving to the next stage
I'd check the next seat's age, height and weight rules together. Then I'd fit it in the right position for that stage. Set the straps for your child too. The fit on a shop display or for an older sibling may need to change.
Use the five-point harness on every ride, with straps at the shoulders, hips and between the legs. (AAP) Keep the first outing simple enough to stop and adjust things. There is no benefit in rushing a seat change just because another baby in your group has moved to theirs.
Questions parents ask
Does a recline mean I can use it from birth?
Use the approved age and setup for that model. The Aer+ has a reclining seat, but the seat starts at 6 months and earlier use needs its separate cot.
Can a baby walk and run in the same seat at the same age?
Those limits can differ. The Revolution Flex 3.0 seat starts at 8 weeks for walks, while jogging and off-road use start at 8 months.
