Quick answer
Is the Mockingbird Single-to-Double 3.0 worth it?
The bottom line
Daily walks with a seat that faces you and room in the basket for your bags
The seat can face you, and the 25 lb basket holds a lot. For a newborn you'll need the infant insert, bassinet or car seat adapter, each sold separately.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Who it's for
- Great if you plan on a second kid and want a stroller that grows into a double.
- Folds with one hand and stands up on its own.
- Smooth on rough sidewalks, with suspension on every wheel.
Who should skip it
- Not for you if you want a car seat to click right in. Every one needs an adapter.
The numbers that matter
Your older child can ride home after the park.
Adding a sibling changes the older kid's seat limit too.
You can carry groceries and a diaper bag in the basket.
Pick the adapter before your first parking lot transfer.
Your newborn needs one extra piece
The regular seat starts at 3 months. Before then, you'll need the Infant Seat Insert, a bassinet or a Car Seat Adapter. Each is sold separately. Put that choice on your list before the first walk, while you still have time to think without a baby crying.
If you're using an infant car seat, every seat that fits needs an adapter. Check your exact car seat before you pick that piece. The adapter is part of the move from car to stroller, so you want it ready with the rest of the setup.
Later, the regular seat can face you or face out. The recline has several positions for the change from looking around to nodding off. Some days the walk is mostly a chat. Some days your baby falls asleep before you reach the corner.
The second seat changes the older kid's limit
The Mockingbird starts as a single, then takes a second seat when you need one. That's the appeal if you're thinking about another baby. You can keep the stroller your family already knows.
There's one catch to check early. In single mode, the seat holds 50 lb. In double mode, each seat holds 45 lb. So the older child's limit goes down when the new baby's seat joins. A big toddler can fit the single and already be too heavy for the double.
A grocery stop without bags on your shoulder
The basket holds 25 lb. You can bring the diaper bag and still make a store stop on foot. It's nice to have somewhere for dinner to ride when your hands are already busy pushing.
All-wheel suspension and shock-absorbing, never-flat tires help on rough sidewalks. You can keep walking over the cracked stretch between home and the shop without adding tire top-ups to your day.
The one-hand fold locks itself and stands upright. That gives it somewhere to wait while you get the kids inside or finish loading the car. Think about that last part too if you plan to use it as a double: the folded stroller still shares your trunk with the family bags.
