Quick answer
Is the Graco Modes Pramette Travel System worth it?
The bottom line
Day-one outings with pramette mode and a seat that can face you
The stroller seat also turns into a little pram for flat newborn walks. You're set for car trips and walks from day one with the same box. The basket holds just 10 lb, so save big grocery runs for the car.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Who it's for
- Great if you want a full travel system on a budget.
- Ready from day one with the car seat it comes with, or in lay-flat pram mode.
- The seat can face you or face out.
Who should skip it
- Not for you if you'll need room for two kids later. It's a single seat.
The numbers that matter
You'll lift this weight into the car.
Your toddler can ride when they're tired of walking.
Leave the big grocery haul for a car trip.
Click the infant seat in when it's time to leave the car.
Early walks have two starting points
The Modes Pramette comes with a SnugRide LX infant car seat. It clicks straight onto the stroller for the trip from the car. When your baby finally settles on the drive, you can move the seat without taking them out.
For walks from home, the stroller seat turns into a lay-flat pramette. That works from day one too. You don't have to start the car to use the newborn setup. Some days all you want is fresh air and a lap of the block.
You can turn the seat toward you
The seat faces you or faces out. On a parent-facing walk, you can chat and watch those tiny expressions. Face it out when the world gets more fun. A dog across the road can be very hard to compete with.
The seat also reclines to several positions. When your child starts to droop, you can change the angle. You don't have to keep the same upright view just because that's how the walk began.
The stroller seat holds a child up to 50 lb. That leaves a place for the toddler who wants to walk out and ride home.
A small basket for a small stop
The basket holds 10 lb. Your diaper bag rides down there, along with the little things you collect on a walk. A big grocery haul needs another plan. It's much less fun to learn that with a bag of food in each hand.
At a stop, press the foot brake down to lock it. Lift it to release. That's the motion you'll use while you look for the snack your child was sure they didn't want at home.
One hand closes it. Then comes the lift.
The fold takes one hand. That's welcome when the walk is over and everyone wants to go home. The stroller weighs 20.9 lb, so closing it and loading it are still separate jobs.
If you drive between lots of little stops, picture doing that lift each time. The included car seat makes the baby transfer simple. You'll still be packing the stroller and the bags around it.
