Quick answer
Is the Baby Jogger City Mini GT2 Double worth it?
The bottom line
Pushing two children with all-wheel suspension and a parking brake at your hand
Every wheel has suspension, so bumpy sidewalks feel smoother. The parking brake is on the handle, so you won't hunt for a pedal with a kid on each side. Both seats face forward, so you won't see their faces while you push.
Who it's for, and who should skip it
Who it's for
- Great if you have twins or two little ones close in age.
- Good if your walks cover bumpy sidewalks, grass or gravel.
Who should skip it
- Not for you if your kids like to face you. The seats face forward.
- Skip it if you want car seats to click right in. Every one that fits needs an adapter.
The numbers that matter
Fits most doorways. Measure the tight one at your favorite coffee shop.
Each seat has its own limit, so a big toddler and a baby both fit.
Room for both kids' snacks and spare clothes.
Each one needs an adapter. Check the list for yours.
Side by side, nobody in back
Both kids sit next to each other, facing forward. Nobody gets stuck behind a sibling's head. If your two already fight over who pushes the elevator button, that's one less fight.
The seats only face out, though. You'll be looking at the tops of two heads, not two faces. Some parents miss the chats. Others are happy with a quieter walk.
Each seat holds a child up to 50 lb. So you can have a big toddler on one side and a baby on the other, and neither one squeezes the other out.
A double that doesn't rattle
The ride
Every wheel has suspension, and the tires never need air. Cracked sidewalks, curb cuts and the grassy shortcut to the park feel a lot smoother. That's a big deal when you're pushing two kids' worth of weight.
The brake
The parking brake is on the handle. You don't have to hunt for a pedal with your foot while one kid drops a snack and the other wants out.
Naps
Both seats recline almost flat. One kid can sleep while the other one waits for the next dog to walk by.
Stuff
The basket holds 15 lb, and two kids fill it fast. Pack the diaper bag, a couple of snacks, and spare clothes. Leave the big grocery run for another day.
Wide, but it gets through
Open, it's 29.25 in wide. That's wide for a stroller. If there's a narrow door you go through every day, measure it before you buy.
The fold is one step, and you start it right from the seat. That matters at the end of a long day, when one kid is melting down and the other has wandered off to look at a bug.
It's heavy, though. A double is a lot to lift into the trunk, so try it in the store if you can.
What parents say
A twin parent says it's heavy, but it folds and turns easily and fits through standard doorways. The seats are side by side, so the twins don't fight over who sits up front. Source (opens in a new tab)
Another parent took one to Disney and loved the compact fold. The only complaint was no snack tray. Source (opens in a new tab)
